The two webinars are designed to provide a platform and opportunity for South Asian colleagues to discuss race issues in the radio and audio sector, to share their stories and experiences both positive and negative, and suggest solutions and actions we can all take to make our industry a more welcoming and inclusive place.
Meet the panel
Tina Daheley, the host for this panel, is the main news presenter on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2, having previously read bulletins on The Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw, and The Chris Moyles Show. She also presents on TV for BBC Breakfast and BBC News.
Sone Palda has 20 years experience in the broadcast industry. His career includes managing the stations Westside Radio, BBA Radio and Urban Sound. He also runs Westside Talent, a leading talent agency focusing on developing and managing the new generation of broadcast talent.
Meera Patel started her radio career working at the BBC on specialist music shows and the Asian Network’s flagship breakfast show. She then went on to produce at KISS FM where she soon became an exec and was a key member of their diversity board. She most recently worked at Apple Music (Beats 1).
Sal Ahmad has almost 20 years working in radio, with 16 years in sport for the BBC, IMG and talkSPORT. He has produced some of the biggest sporting events around, including the 2018 World Cup final in Russia as well award-winning coverage of England's cricket tours of Sri Lanka and the West Indies.
Mark Machado has produced audio across the BBC and in commercial radio. He has worked with a wide range of talent including Eamonn Holmes and Vanessa Feltz. Transitioning into broadcasting, he is a regular contributor and occasional presenter across the BBC. Most recently, he's the co-founder and head of production at 11-29 Media, a podcast production company.
Aradhna Tayal is Director of Radio TechCon, and a Trustee and Fellow of The Radio Academy, where she is also Chair of the Academy's Diversity & Inclusion group.
