Celebrating International Women’s Day we brought together three women who have pushed the boundaries in broadcasting – transforming what’s talked about across the country over the last 50 years.

Radio legend Anna Raeburn, podcaster Sangeeta Pillai and our host Emma B – spoke about breaking the mould and changing the game. Find out what it’s like to become a confidant for listeners – and how you go about discussing subjects that were previously off limits.

Anna made her name as a radio agony aunt on the pioneering ‘Anna and the Capital Radio Doctor’ show, offering all manner of help advice for listeners decades before the Internet existed. Her 40 year plus radio and journalistic career took her to LBC and talkRADIO.

Sangeeta is an activist and writer who presents the Masala Podcast – a feminist podcast exploring cultural taboos. It features everything from sex, sexuality, periods, menopause, porn, shame and much more plus conversations with powerful South Asian women.

Emma B presents the afternoon show on Magic FM. Earlier in her career she hosted the groundbreaking Sunday Surgery on BBC Radio 1 – dealing with the social and health concerns of young listeners. Emma has also recently presented a series on fertility and is about to front Magic FM’s campaign on the menopause
