A great british radio man [Harry Dunne] from a former great british radio company [Metro Radio Group] to whom many of us owe a great deal, once shared this quote with me from an American motivational speaker called Zig Ziglar and his book 'See you at the Top......
"you can get everything in life you want, if you will just help enough other people get what they want."
In my career I have tried to follow this example and apply it by helping customers get what they want and helping colleagues reach their goals and it has worked a treat for me. Customers invested more in me and, in helping colleagues, they have in turn helped me enormously. It was this ethos that attracted me to my role at The Radio Academy, the opportunity to help new entrants access our industry and help current practitioners develop their careers.
As we plan for 2018 and beyond with Phase Two for the new Radio Academy, we’re looking for people who would like to help develop the organisation and shape the future of the whole audio industry by helping our members achieve even greater success and thereby raise the bar still higher for our world leading sector.
It's an incredibly exciting time at The Radio Academy, with plans for new initiatives next year and our current roster of events enjoying support and engagement like never before, but we are determined to widen our community and develop our portfolio still further,
This is about giving back, 'helping other people get what they want/need' in the same way as you will undoubtedly have been helped. We're looking for new Trustees to sit on the Board of the Academy and get actively involved in achieving our mission.
If you would like to stand for Election [voted for by members of The Radio Academy], then please send a photo, short biog [max 500 words] to email@example.com Closing date to register your candidature is Tuesday 19th December, with voting opening the following day Wednesday 20th December and closing Wednesday 17th January.
To compliment the current knowledge of the Board, we would particularly welcome candidates with Engineering/Technology, Podcasting, Streaming, Sponsorship and Academic backgrounds.
To serve as a Trustee, you need to be a ‘paid up’ individual member which means that if you currently enjoy complimentary membership as an employee of a Corporate Patron or member of one of our Affiliate Patrons, you would need to change your membership prior to becoming a Trustee. Membership starts at £36 a year. Louise will be able to assist you with this at the relevant time.
Bye for now,
