crowdCaster become latest Radio Academy Patron

Online Radio Broadcasting (“ORB”) is to become a patron of the Academy, which is dedicated to the encouragement, recognition and promotion of excellence in UK radio broadcasting and audio production.

ORB is the creator of the new audio application, “crowdCaster”, which announced the launch of its full feature set on 31 August 2016. Through its desktop and mobile application crowdCaster enables everyone, with or without expertise or recording equipment, to broadcast audio content across the web and social media. The platform has been in development for 3 years and in open beta for 12 months, and is now in full service without advertisements or sponsored content.

ORB wishes to encourage new broadcasters to develop their talents in an attractive and creative environment, while giving listeners a wide range of new audio content to discover and share.

Kevin Martin, Creative Director of ORB said, “crowdCaster has now been live for a year and its initial feature set is now complete. It offers the ability to broadcast audio of three different lengths - at the core is the 140 second 'cast' (audio broadcast) which can be pre-recorded and uploaded or created instantly via crowdCaster's free-to-use desktop site and iOS and Android mobile apps. For longer segments, casts can be grouped together into 'shows', while premium users can upload podcasts of up to an hour. Podcasts can also be combined into shows, thereby creating podcasts of more than one hour's duration. We hope the application will encourage people to create and listen to audio, and share content across social media and their own websites. There is a range of talent out there, and we hope that developing a working relationship with the Radio Academy will encourage this talent to be heard”.

Roger Cutsforth, Managing Director of the Radio Academy, said, “We look forward to working with ORB and making the crowdCaster application audio platform accessible to our members. ORB is supporting us in a tangible way through offering its Premium podcast uploading service at no cost for a 6 month period to our members. We will be making a further announcement with the details of this shortly.”

Iain Rawlinson, Chairman of ORB, said, “We are very pleased to be able to support the Radio Academy and its work. This fulfils one of our main aims - which is to encourage creation and sharing of audio, and to make it accessible. We are also inviting feedback from users to guide the ongoing development of the crowdCaster application - where there is still much to explore and develop”.
