The Radio Academy is seeking three members to join its Board of Trustees, and nominations are open now for anybody that wishes to put themselves forward.
The Board of Trustees is the Academy’s sovereign body and is elected by Academy members. Trustees determine the strategic direction of The Academy, as well as providing the legal and financial governance required by the Charity Commission.
Trustees serve a three-year term and are expected to play an active role in creating, planning and implementing Radio Academy initiatives, as well as attending a minimum of six board meetings per year in London. They should bring with them significant experience and understanding of the UK audio sector.
Any member of The Radio Academy can stand to be elected as a Trustee. We aim to represent all areas of the audio and radio industry in the UK. To this end, we would encourage people from all personal and professional backgrounds to apply, and particularly welcome colleagues from minority groups to apply. The elected trustees are empowered to co-opt additional trustees to the board, to ensure that the board is fully representative of all our members.
Anyone interested in nominating themselves for election should email a 250-word nomination and a recent photograph to email@example.com. Your nomination should be suitable for publication, and should explain your background and why you’d like to be a Trustee.
Every year, the three longest-serving Radio Academy trustees stand down from the board, to make room for new blood. The three Trustees standing down at this election are Sam Bailey, Ahmed Hussein and Stephanie Hirst.
Radio Academy Chair of Trustees Yvonne Thompson thanked the outgoing board members, saying: “The entire board has worked incredibly hard in 2019, and I’m so proud that we have such a passionate group of Trustees. I’d like to give particular thanks to those who are stepping down – for donating their time, experience, knowledge and effort to make the Radio Academy what it is today. The opportunity created by their departure is for three new Trustees to bring fresh energy to this hugely committed group.”
Nominations close on 12th January 2020 and everyone who nominates themselves will be included shortly after in an election run on the Radio Academy website.Back to All Posts
