The Radio Academy Code of Conduct

At The Radio Academy, we are committed to ensuring that all attendees at our events feel safe and comfortable, and we ask that you read of the following Code of Conduct to maintain the supportive nature of our events. By adhering to this code, we foster a positive, inclusive, supportive, and respectful environment that aligns with our core values and organisational priorities of celebration, community, development and promotion. You can read more about our values here. Please note that the following Code applies to all attendees at our events, no matter what capacity you are attending in. Thank you for taking the time to read this document.

At all of our events, we ask that you:

1. Be respectful

  • Treat everyone with dignity and respect, as you would wish to be treated.
  • Do not discriminate against anyone based on their race, gender identity, sexuality, religion, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic.

2. Help to foster a safe community

  • Work to make sure nobody is subject to bullying, harassment or intimidation.
  • Report any concerning behaviour that you witness. All of our events take place in externally managed venues, so we will liaise with venue management on your behalf.

3. Collaborate and connect

  • Engage in the event and with those around you to ensure you get the most out of the experience.

4. Reach out and seek support

  • Take any concerns reported to you seriously, and report them to a member of The Radio Academy team as soon as possible.

At The Radio Academy, we are dedicated to creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment at our events. A huge part of that is how we deal with any reports of misconduct. We take all concerns seriously, and treat anyone raising them with dignity and respect. If concerns are reported, we will take appropriate action which may include a temporary/permanent ban at our events or referring the issue to your employer if necessary.

Here is our process for reporting any concerns:

  • Find and speak to a member of Radio Academy staff present at the event. They will note down all details and raise it with our Managing Director, Aradhna Tayal Leach.
  • If you do not feel comfortable doing this, we encourage you to email your concern to info@radioacademy.org at any time with as much information as possible.
  • Please be aware that if you do not provide your contact details then we are unable to contact you for further information or to let you know of the outcome.
  • If your concern is urgent, we will support you in liaising with venue security or management on your behalf. If appropriate and necessary, we can also contact the police or emergency services.
  • If the concern requires an investigation, the Radio Academy team will need to gather as much information as possible from you and any witnesses.
  • The investigation will involve the smallest number of Radio Academy staff possible, and may require the support of one or more of our Trustees.
  • The Radio Academy is committed to protecting the anonymity and safety of those who report misconduct. Please be assured that everything will be dealt with in the strictest of confidence.
  • The team will establish what has happened, and then decide on the appropriate action, which may include those listed above.

If you have any further questions about anything in this Code of Conduct, please contact info@radioacademy.org and we will endeavour to answer them.
