Greg James launches the South West Branch

Our very first event was at the BBC in Plymouth on Thursday 26th May 2016.

The new South West branch is represented by commercial, BBC, hospital and community broadcasters in Devon and Cornwall and for the first time will be putting on events locally in the South West, which means industry and radio professionals will be able to attend events close to where they live in Devon and Cornwall.

BBC Radio 1 presenter, Greg James launched the new branch at an intimate event at the BBC's new multi million pound refurbished building in Plymouth on Thursday 26th May ahead of BBC Radio1's Big Weekend concert at Powerderham Castle in Devon. He was interviewed by Radio Plymouth's breakfast presenter, Jon White.

Radio Academy South West board member and Radio Exe creative director Paul Nero says: "With the BBC hosting this first event and Greg James agreeing to be quizzed by people from commercial stations - in front of an audience made up of people from all parts of the radio sector - it's clear how we not only compete where necessary but cooperate whenever we can."

Audio of the event is coming soon, in the meantime here are some pictures from the evening.
