RA logo podcast 5For this week’s RadioTalk, Trevor is joined by Sony Award winners Adrian Van Klaveren (Controller, BBC Radio 5 live) and Moz Dee (Programme Director, Talksport) to talk about all things awards and elections. Providing balance is The Guardian’s very own Media Monkey and Radio Correspondent, John Plunkett.

We ask, how does it feel to win a Sony? Are the Sonys any more relevant to commercial radio than they have been in the past? Is there any value in a Silver or Bronze Award? Which political figures have a career in radio ahead of them? Has the election been purely “a BBC moment”? And do political commentators know more than their sporting counterparts?

In a week filled with elections, Moz has been listening to the latest on Radio 4’s Today Programme, Adrian’s been enjoying the Vote Now Show, and John’s been enjoying Radcliffe & Maconie on Radio 2, and Danny Baker on 5 live.

Reference the podcast discussion about the presentation of Silver and Bronze winners certificates: After the show 40 of the 58 Silver and Bronze winners came upstairs to receive their certificates. Clearly an innovation that was appreciated by the vast majority of such winners.
