Skillset

Skillset is the Sector Skills Council (SSC) for Creative Media which comprises TV, film, radio, interactive media, animation, computer games, facilities, photo imaging and publishing. It is the industry body which supports skills and training for people and businesses to ensure the UK creative media industries maintain their world class position.

Skillset’s Radio Skills Council, chaired by Sonita Alleyne OBE, Chief Executive of Somethin' Else, formed in March 2009. The Council is made up of representatives from across the radio industry and its purpose is to advise and guide Skillset’s work in radio.

Skillset works right across the radio industry with BBC radio, commercial radio, community and voluntary stations as well as the independent production sector. It also works closely with Higher and Further Education and industry training providers offering courses in radio production and technology.

Skillset Careers

Skillset Careers is the specialist careers information, advice and guidance (IAG) service for the creative media industries. It offers a range of services and information to people just starting out on their media career as well as people already employed in the industry. Tuning In Conference

On 23 February 2009, Skillset held a national conference dedicated to radio, demonstrating that a focus on skills development and nurturing diverse talent is vital for the industry to survive and thrive.
