Sir Terry Wogan KBE DL

Michael Terence "Terry" Wogan began his career at RTE where he presented shows such as Jackpot in the 1960s. He joined BBC Radio 1 in the 1960s and made his name presenting the breakfast show on Radio 2 in the 1970s. After a spell in TV he returned to Radio 2 in 1993 and created Wake Up To Wogan, the UK's most popular breakfast show.

At his induction in 2009, the Academy recognised "his outstanding achievements as a radio broadcaster, his pioneering generation of listener participation at the very highest level, his championship of music makers from all genres, his joy in the English language itself and his mastery of the microphone that has won the respect and admiration of listeners and professional colleagues across the UK and beyond."
