Dee Ford

One of the leading figures in UK radio, the Group Managing Director of Bauer Radio, Dee Ford is to appear at the Radio Festival this year in a special one to one session about her life and work.

Bauer stations are arranged into two distinct portfolios. In the 21 markets it serves the Bauer Place Portfolio is the number one commercial radio station, including London, Glasgow, Belfast, Liverpool, Sheffield, Newcastle and Manchester. The Passion Portfolio of young iconic music brands includes Kiss nationally with its highest ever reach figure, and the UK’s largest commercial digital station, The Hits.

Dee has spent a lifetime in radio and has an enviable track record in the UK. She understands radio and for the first time will explain her strategies for success, share her hopes for the future and give an insight into her extraordinary career.

An alumna of the prestigious Wharton Business School in Philadelphia, USA and of Stanford University, Dee began her hugely successful career in sales before joining Emap in 1994 as MD of Preston-based Rock FM. Her career progressed rapidly and in 1999 she became Group MD of Emap Performance, overseeing the company’s successful strategy of stretching media brands across different platforms. She became Group MD of the expanded Emap Radio Network when the division separated from Performance in 2005.

In January 2008 the Emap Radio network joined the Bauer Media Group, Europe’s largest privately owned publisher, following the acquisition of Emap plc’s consumer and specialist magazines, radio, TV, online and digital businesses. Collectively, the Group employs some 6,400 people.

The three day Radio Festival, which has attracted a range of talent and speakers from around the world, is being held at The Lowry, Salford’s prestigious arts and entertainment centre between 31st October and 2nd November.

John Myers said: “We are delighted that Dee has agreed to speak this year as she is well known for trying to avoid the spotlight. In a year where she has won a number of awards including The Gold Award at the Arqiva’s earlier this year, it will allow our audience to spend some time with one of the most successful radio executives in the country. It will be a fun session.”
