Best of British

The Urban Music Community and the Radio Industry

9th Sept 08

The Basement (MCPS/PRS), 29-33 Berners Street, London

With some of this summer’s biggest hits coming from the UK streets – will this see a change in the programming of some of the UK’s local and national stations?

The UK urban music scene has long been overshadowed by its American counterparts and finally the tide seems to be turning. But will this have longevity in radio?

Ras Kwame (BBC Radio 1/ 1Xtra) will talk to some of radio’s key music programmers and specialists from across the networks including Chris Phillips (Choice FM) and MC Harvey to discuss the best ways the urban music community can work together with the radio industry to ensure the best of what’s British can reach a national audience.

* Christian Smith (Group Head of Music, Kiss) and Laura Lukanz (Music Manager, BBC 1Xtra) to join the discussion*
