In this age of 24/7 celebrity fixation, gossip and innuendo has become an everyday part of our radio lives. But how much do we know about the law when it comes to repeating the juicy stories we read in the daily papers and hear on the ‘grapevine’?

Mark Stephens, a partner with Finers Stephens Innocent, who specialises in media and defamation was on hand to help the audience understand what they can and can’t say on air. The session was an amusing evening of story telling, and informative legal opinion.

Mark, who is one of the best known media lawyers in the UK regularly appears in print and on radio and television and contributes to the Radio 4 Quiz show “Points of Law”.
