Clive Dickens
With over 25 years experience within the media sector, Clive Dickens' genuine passion for the industry is universally acknowledged. In his role as Chief Operating Officer , he is driving music and entertainment brand Absolute Radio to develop groundbreaking technical innovations plus award-winning programming and marketing campaigns.
Responsible for the development of the Absolute Radio brand , Clive has kept real music as the core proposition of Absolute Radio, with a commitment to more live music and the much loved “No Repeat Guarantee”. He has also brought comedy to the forefront of the station’s proposition with two high profile talent signings in the form of the inimitable Frank Skinner and fellow comedian Dave Gorman. The station has teamed up with comedy power-house Avalon to create the shows.
In 2009 the station picked up no less than four Sony Awards with seven nominations – more than any other commercial station in radio history. Absolute Radio also picked up three Radio Academy Promotions and Marketing awards including the coveted Gold Award.
Clive oversees all the station’s major digital initiatives, these have been developed and designed as part of One Golden Square Labs - a new digital working group led by Dickens, set up at Absolute Radio to develop conceptual standalone digital propositions – striving for innovation and fresh thinking in the radio and entertainment sectors. The group develops applications for the web and new and emerging platforms, including mobile, wi-fi radio, and next-generation DAB. OGS Labs has an open-source approach and actively encourages involvement from the digital community.
New launches in recent months include the launch of two brand new digital stations – Absolute 80s and the user controlled dabbl, a brand new radio industry comparison site www.comparemyradio.com and six new iPhone applications.
